We are pleased to announce The 1st Armenian Women’s Art Exhibition in New York City. This exhibition is featuring 23 Armenian female artists born in Armenia, Lebanon, Iran, Turkey and the US.

Uniting artists with shared Armenian roots but diverse cultural influences under one roof in NYC, this exhibition will explore how their individual experiences are expressed in their art. The show is unique not only for the differing cultural backgrounds that the artists are coming from, but also for the diversity of the styles and mediums that they are creating in.

The history of Armenian art is not rich with famous women artists and the few female artists of the past century didn’t get the recognition they deserve. But today we can proudly announce that already many artists of this exhibition have their stable place in the contemporary art scene.  This show will increase the awareness and the appreciation of their art.

In hopes of developing a network between the artists, we will also have them join us for an artist talk and discussion, on October 6, 2007, 3:00 – 6:00 PM.
