The Armenian Students’ Association of America, Inc. (ASA), the oldest major Armenian organization founded in the United States, will hold its 98th Annual Convention meeting at the national headquarters in Warwick, Rhode Island, on Sunday, June 10, 2007 beginning at 11:00 am.

ASA to Hold 98th Annual Convention Meeting at National Headquarters

WARWICK, RI – The Armenian Students’ Association of America, Inc. (ASA), the oldest major Armenian organization founded in the United States, will hold its 98th Annual Convention meeting at the national headquarters in Warwick, Rhode Island, on Sunday, June 10, 2007 beginning at 11:00 am.  The purposes of the ASA are educational and charitable, including encouraging educational pursuits by Armenians in America and the raising of their intellectual standards, providing financial assistance in the form of scholarships to deserving Armenian students, developing fellowship among them, cultivating in them the spirit of service in the public interest, and acquainting them and the entire American community with Armenian culture.

During the course of the one-day convention meeting, the Board of Trustees, led by Chairman Azarig Kooloian, along with representatives from ASA branches, will make their fiscal year 2006-2007 annual reports.  Other areas of discussion will include methods of growing the membership and moving the ASA forward.

As part of the ASA’s desire to grow and improve, a questionnaire is on the website (www.asainc.org) for anyone interested in participating.  Information gathered will help the organization to understand the needs and desires of the community and assist in planning future events and programs.  The ASA is also establishing an e-mail database to more effectively disseminate information.  All students interested in receiving e-mail notices from the Association should forward their e-mail addresses to headasa@aol.com.
